After working closely to organize events during their college days, five friends, alumni of
St. Xavier’s College, have now pooled their talents to set up an online marketplace that brings you the best from traditional Indian sweet shops.

My Mithaiwala (www.mymithaiwala.com) is a portal offers customers their favourite delicacies from popular sweet shops around Dadar, Mahim, Prabhadevi and Lower Parel and delivers these sweets and snacks at their doorstep.

Despite having above average jobs in prominent companies after graduation, Siddhant Sarpate, Deepak Dutt, Om Pathre, Naresh Pingale and Ajinkya Shinde, the co-founders of My Mithaiwala decided to quit their jobs to take up this venture full time.

“The food industry attracts a major share of the startup industry. There have been many companies in the delivery as well as review parts of this field but no one has yet dabbled in the field of classic Indian sweets. We thought of tapping to this unexplored and unorganized sector and cater to large audience which was unserved online.”, says Deepak.

The sweets and snacks are delivered by My Mithaiwala within two to three hours after the order is placed at the exact same price which the shop offers without any additional delivery charges. While the shops associated with the portal are based around Dadar, Prabhadevi and Lower Parel as of now, the delivery from these shops is available all over Mumbai (up to Andheri, Thane and South Mumbai). The portal has now completed over five months and they’ve successfully delivered over 500 sweet parcels till date. “It’s great to see the kind of response that we are getting from people. We’ve been getting a lot of appreciation from people all over Mumbai and they are happy to receive their sweets just in a few hours after the order is placed.”, Siddhant said.

“The best part about our start-up is that all the work is done in-house without any outsourcing. The website  development, marketing and promotions, deliveries and operations and everything else that happens in the company is done by the five of us. This helps us to save up on costs and also gives us first hand experience of the work which is very important for every start-up.” shared Om.

The team is now looking for their first round of investment. They plan to use these funds for product development and expand their operations pan Mumbai by listing all the prominent sweet shops on the website.
